IRA Charitable Rollovers 2015
On December 18, 2015, the US Congress renewed the ability to make tax-free distributions from Traditional or Roth Individual Retirement Account (IRA) assets to certain qualified charitable organizations, such as The Center of Concern, through 2015. Those interested may request direct transfers from their IRA in any amount up to $100,000 to a charity before December 31, 2015, without reporting it as taxable income. This provision applies to people age 70 ½ or older at the time the transfer is completed. Thus, it may be possible for couples who each have separate IRA accounts to transfer up to $200,000 between now and the end of 2015. We encourage you to check with your financial advisers about the best ways for you to take advantage of this opportunity as you consider gifts to the Center of Concern and other charitable interests that are important to you.

It is simple to make a transfer. Contact your account administrator to request a check be delivered to the address below. Envelopes must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2015, to qualify for this tax provision.

The most uplifting holiday card you will sign this year

Front of Holiday CardThis years holiday appeal includes the most uplifting Greeting Card you will sign this year. By signing the card and supporting the 2015 Holiday Campaign, you will be helping local seniors and the homeless overcome isolation this holiday season.  Your personalized messages will then be hand-delivered by the Center of Concern so residents facing hardships will find comfort in knowing there are people who care for their well being.  It is a small gesture that will make a huge difference.

For many families this is their favorite time of year, as friends and loved ones share a joyful holiday season. But what about those without a warm home, a safe environment, the company of family and trusted friends nearby, or a meal to celebrate? Many of our clients are separated from loved ones due to the effects of poor physical or mental health, the loss of a spouse, and the downward spiral of poverty. As our social workers and volunteers address their daily needs, your gift will provide much needed support.

Please support our human services programs and bring cheer to residents who are isolated and alone for the holidays. Your donation will enable the Center of Concern to assist our clients where it is needed most: a place to call home, comforting and regular friendly visitors, front-line social work and friends to call for help or assistance. Seniors and the homeless need our support, not just at this time of the year, but all year long. You can make a one-time donation or a monthly gift by check or credit card. Together, you and all of us at the Center of Concern can make the New Year a bit brighter with love, hope and an offer of “peace and goodwill to all”.
