Don is an Attorney in private practice in Niles since 1987 with the firm of Ptasinski & Smith and primarily concentrates in the areas of estate planning, real estate, and probate ant-trust administration. A few other things but that is most of it.
Don currently serves as the Des Plaines 7th Ward Alderman and was an Alderman from 1997 until 2009. He was appointed Alderman in October 2014 to take the place of Joanna Sojka who very unexpectedly died in August 2014. Don was elected to a two-year term in April 2015 which expires in April 2017.
Don is currently a member of the Des Plaines Frisbie Senior Center Board of Directors for the last 10 years or so. Is an active member of the Niles Chamber of Commerce and a member of several state and local bar associations.
Over the years I have been on the Board of the United Way of Skokie Valley, a member and past President of the Niles-Morton Grove Rotary club, school board member, and homeowner association board member, but those all go back several years and are really not that current. Don has three adult children, all of whom have flown the coop at this point.
Three years ago Chuck retired from Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn, where he was a guidance counselor and coach. He thoroughly enjoyed his job; the interaction with students and faculty, as well as the different challenges each day, brought.
Now a volunteer here at the Center of Concern, Chuck helps people with their Medicare concerns. Eligibility, enrolling in Part A and B, drug plans, and comparing various plans that supplement Medicare are some typical issues he deals with.
Chuck and his wife, Joan, have lived in Park Ridge for 33 years. Their children graduated from Maine South High School; Kevin graduated from the University of Illinois and resides with his wife in Minneapolis, while daughter, Melissa, graduated from Indiana University and lives in Washington DC.
His interests include basketball, golf, and travel, having recently returned from Europe where he and his wife visited Berlin, Prague and Vienna.
